Well, my dear readers. You guys and girls can just ignore this post as it’s just a part of my college assignment which lecturer want us to do and post in blog. Due to my laziness of creating a new blog for that, I prefer using back my very own blog.
Question 1 and 2 (Comment and knowledge)
Spent whole night reading the whole article which title “A New Paradigm for Business: Mobile-Web2.0 in business” which lecturer asked ordered us to read about it. Being an IT guy, web 1.0 / web 2.0 and mobile technology are way too common as lecturers babbled told about it in almost every subjects in class. But well, for me, I just know that web 2.0 is a newer version of web 1.0 and mobile technology is all about mobility. The article just gave me a better way to know and understand what is web 2.0 and mobile technology.
Web 2.0 is not just a newer version of web 1.0; instead it’s a transformation of web 1.0 where web 1.0 is just a read only interface and web 2.0 is a read-write interface. I may not know how web 1.0 was last time but I can imagine how bored is it because everything just in words where you can only read plus when it comes to E-commerce or E-business, it has a limitations. Since Web 2.0 was developed to replace web 1.0, everything becomes different. User can use the webtools that implemented in web 2.0 to make life easier in creating webpage easily. Wiki, blog, mashup, and crowd sourcing are all web 2.0 where nowadays many companies used them in their businesses. As I go through the article again and again, I found out some pros and cons about using web 2.0 that included wiki, blog, mashup, and crowd sourcing in business which known as E-commerce or E-business. Starting an e-business using web 2.0 is low cost as the start-up costs are low. Other than this, it’s flexibility that user can conduct business 24hours a day as operations can often be automated. In this world, nothing can be perfect perfectly. So, there are also cons in staring an e-business using web 2.0. There are no immediate results and can be time consuming as it takes times to attract visitors to your website and building up online presence.
Mobile technology is a very common thing that everyone including me knows just by the word ‘mobile’, device that is portable and it is mobility will come across in everyone’s mind such as mobile phone, PDA, laptop, smart phone, and mobile network such as wifi, bluetooth and cellular network. But well, I get to know RFID Systems and GPS are also under mobile technology. Since the wireless technology is introduced, wireless function helps user by allowing them to access to internet for anything and obtains needed information easily anywhere anytime just by using the mobility devices. Applying mobile technology in business has its benefits and drawbacks as well. Mobile technology is a more convenient technology that leads to a great flexibility. For examples, customer can check where the location of certain places by using GPS and in working, it enabling home working, or working while traveling by using mobile devices such as laptop with the wireless function.
Question 3 (Suggestion)
Well, the security guard in Sunway College Ipoh is quite annoying sometimes when the students of the college didn’t bring their student ID, that guard will come over, stop you from entering college and say this say that like talking grandmother stories. To make thing become a win-win situation, I suggest Sunway College Ipoh should implement RFID technology in this college. Why RFID? As we know RFID stands for radio-frequency identification where RFID tags can be used to track products and improve the efficiency of placing new items on the sales floor. By using this system, we can replace the normal student ID with the student ID that implemented RFID tags in it. How we going to use it in college? Good question. With the RFID tags, students have to bring it every time they come to college cause without it, they can’t ever enter to college as there will be a RFID scanner to scan their ID before allow entering into the college. Is it a win-win situation? I think maybe a yes as security guard no need to care whether the students bring their ID or not as they have to bring no matter what to enter college and students won’t be annoyed early in the morning by the security guard. As I said all the time, there’s nothing 100% perfect in the world. Using this technology in college might have the pros and cons.
Nowadays, quite a number of peoples like to eat steamboat as they can eat as much as they can just by paying a standard price per person. Its might be cheap yet might be expensive. Normally these kinds of steamboat restaurant just do it like buffet where everyone serves themselves but few days ago, I came across this steamboat restaurant called Momo Café near Ipoh Padang area. This restaurant not just only sells their products but they sell services too. All the customers need to do are refer to the menu given and order. The food ordered will be serve by workers there instead of customers go to take their own food for steamboat. With this service, wireless personal digital assistant (PDAs) strikes through my mind where I should suggest this technology for this restaurant. PDA is a device designed to replace the traditional pen-and-paper system for collecting necessary information. As everyone knows, PDAs have been used by restaurants to take orders and sent the orders wirelessly to the kitchen. But so far, I didn’t been to a restaurants where PDAs are already on the tables and customers can just select what they want with the PDAs as the menus are saved in it and order by themselves wirelessly. So, Momo Café may be able to use this technology as services that actually can save up their costs in hiring too many workers and printing new menu.
